Antioxidants

Antioxidants, or antioxidants, are a group of chemical compounds whose main task is to remove free oxygen radicals from the body.

 

Antioxidants inhibit the oxidation processes in the human body. They are called youth relationships because they stop and delay the aging process and prevent the emergence of many diseases, incl. cancer, heart disease, atherosclerosis, diabetes, cataracts, asthma, Alzheimer's or Parkinson's disease.

 

The state where the amount of free radicals exceeds the amount of antioxidants in the body is called oxidative stress. This condition can arise from a poor diet, alcohol abuse, smoking, UV radiation, and many other factors.

 

Therefore, you should take care of the right amount of antioxidants in our body. It is possible thanks to a proper diet rich in vegetables and fruits, which are rich sources of antioxidants. There are also supplements that help us maintain the right amount of antioxidants. The most important and effective, however, is a balanced diet.

 

Examples of antioxidants: vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin E, beta-carotene, lycopene, lutein, selenium, manganese, zeaxanthin, catechin, flavonoids.
