Discoloration reduction

Discoloration - what exactly are they?

By skin discoloration, we mean a local, excessive build-up of brown skin pigment. It is an increased amount of melanin, which gives the effect of brown spots of various sizes. This may have a genetic basis, as these are often, for example, freckles. Another source may be that inflammation of the skin has gone away, or it is the result of taking certain antibiotics or anti-inflammatory drugs. It is also often associated with older age - we are talking about senile or lentil stain.

The causes of discoloration

Discoloration on the face and the rest of the body is most often caused by hormonal changes. They appear almost exclusively in women (very rare in men). They are visible sometimes after the age of 25, but most often after the age of 30. The hormones that are taken most predispose to their formation. This includes birth control pills, hormone replacement therapy, natural strong hormonal changes, e.g. during pregnancy. There are also people who do not take any medications and have contracted unsightly stains. This is because the mechanisms that produce melanin change with age. They are even more sensitive to physiological fluctuations in their own hormones.

How to fight discoloration?

It depends primarily on how deep the discoloration is. It is easy to check in a dermatological office using the so-called Wood's lamps. After it shines in shallow discoloration, their foci blend in color with the surrounding skin. However, in the deeper ones, they are still more visible than the surrounding skin. Shallow skin discoloration responds well to special cosmetics. They should contain ingredients that act on different stages of dye formation, i.e. Melanogenesis:

-lumicinol

-vitamin C.

-kojic acid

-hydroquinone
